Lawyers for jailed Ugandan opposition leader hail Supreme Court decision

The lead attorney in the trial of Ugandan opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye and his co-accused says she’s hopeful the rule of law will prevail in the country. This, after the Uganda Supreme Court ruled Friday that trying civilians in General Court Martial and military courts is unconstitutional. President Museveni has described the ruling as a “wrong decision.” Besigye and his co-accused Obeid Lutale are charged with the unlawful possession of ammunition and a firearm.
