Clashes around Al-Fashir in Sudan's North Darfur State have escalated, raising concerns of a new surge in civilian casualties and humanitarian risks. Despite the year-long conflict between the Sudan Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces engulfing Darfur, Al-Fashir had remained relatively shielded until now. VOA's Nabeel Biajo speaks with Salih Mahmoud, a prominent Sudanese human rights lawyer and president of the Darfur Bar Association, to shed light on the potential consequences of a full-scale confrontation between warring factions in the region.
