The South Sudan National Security Service says 12 people suspected of abducting, torturing, and killing people along highways linking the capital Juba were detained during a joint operation by security agencies; one person was killed and 13 others sustained injuries during a road accident at Bangulu area in Mundri West county of Western Equatoria state; a row is brewing between the deputy governor of Jonglei state and some members of the Sudan People Liberation Movement after the party members sent a petition to President Salva Kiir, asking the president to fire the deputy governor.
