Ethiopian American space scientist Brooke Lakew, an associate director with Solar System Exploration Division at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He tells VOA's Jackson Mvunganyi that though space exploration requires major resources, it is necessary for African governments, if they are become less reliant on foreign technology and to take control of their own environmental and national security.
