The United States Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, OFAC, has sanctioned three former Sudanese officials who served in the ousted President Omar al-Bashir’s administration. They include Salah Gosh, the ex-spy chief, and Taha Osman, the former presidential office director. OFAC said these sanctions, announced on Monday, aim to counter the officials’ involvement in destabilizing Sudan's peace, security, and stability. OFAC said the economic sanctions and asset freezes support international diplomatic efforts to resolve the current Sudanese conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces or RSF. For insight, VOA's Nabeel Biajo spoke with Brian Adeba, a senior policy advisor with the Sentry, a group that investigates money connected to African war criminals.
