US Rights Group Blame Islamist Militants for Killing Spree in BFaso
US-based group Human Rights Watch says armed Islamist militants in Burkina Faso have killed scores of civilians, looted, and burned property, and forced thousands to flee attacks across the country since 2022. HRW also says Islamists besieged several towns, cutting residents off from food and humanitarian aid. Ilaria Allegrozzi, senior research on the Sahel for Human Rights Watch, tells Daybreak Africa host James Butty, the transitional authorities in Burkina Faso should work with regional bodies and concerned governments to provide better protection and assistance for people at risk.
