Six African first ladies and Members of the U.S. Congress Monday met at Washington D.C.’s Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History and Culture for the launching of the Women United Foundation, a U.S. institution focused on empowering women in Africa by partnering with first ladies from the continent. For more on Monday’s event and how the U.S. program will benefit women in Africa, host of VOA’s Daybreak Africa James Butty spoke with Deborah Elizabeth, the founder of the Women United Foundation.
