UN’s Guterres makes ‘appeal for peace’ in DRC ahead of regional summit
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday urged for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo following the recent capture of Goma by M23 rebels. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in Goma after the fierce battle between the rebels and Congolese government, according to the U.N. Eastern and southern African leaders will hold a summit in Tanzania beginning Friday to discuss the eastern DRC crisis.
