South Sudan’s national assembly passed empowering National Security officers to detain individuals without an arrest warrant. Opposition lawmakers urged President Salva Kiir not to sign it. Some legislators of the Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement In Opposition say the bill threatens democracy in the country. Manyang David Mayar has more from Juba.
