Refugees International: nearly a half million flee Goma fighting
The rebel group M23 has been engaged in heavy clashes with government forces Monday trying to take control of Goma - the largest city in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s east. Refugees International senior advocate Abdullahi Halakhe tells VOA’s Carol Van Dam that nearly a half million Congolese have fled the city and he expects that number to grow.
