Football sources watching the European transfer window Wednesday confirmed that French giants Paris Saint-Germain have failed to sign Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech on loan from Chelsea after their national league (LFP) refused to ratify the player’s contract.

Sources close to the deal say the 29-year-old winger’s Premier League club failed to send required documents to the French club ahead of the deadline to close the transfer window.

Despite receiving the transfer documents late, PSG still pushed to have the Moroccan star move to France by requesting special approval from the LFP, however the attempts were futile.

While announcing no move, authorities added that the Atlas Lion had already passed his medicals and that he had reached an agreement to move to France until the end of the season.

The Netherlands-born Ziyech was a priority target for PSG, as the French side was looking to add depth to their attack, soon after the departure of Spanish international Pablo Sarabia who moved to the English Premier League side, Wolverhampton Wanderers in January.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions also added Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar to the list of failed signings this transfer window, as the Slovakian center back will be staying at his Italian club until his contract expires at the end of the season.

As Ziyech’s team agreed to send the Moroccan star to France, the Premier League side Wednesday announced that they have signed Argentina’s World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez from Spanish side Benfica for a record British transfer fee of almost $132 million.

“Enzo is a Blue!” wrote the British side on their website, adding, “the Argentinian midfielder has completed his transfer from Benfica to Chelsea.”
