Nigeriens Applaud Junta's Decision to Cut Ties with Benin
Residents of Gaya, a Nigerien border town, Wednesday expressed solidarity with the nation’s governing junta after its leaders announced severing ties with Benin. Niger’s military leaders Tuesday accused Benin of authorizing the deployment of troops into its territory to restore recently ousted President Mohamed Bazoum to power, a move the junta alleges is part of possible military intervention led by West African regional bloc, ECOWAS.
