Namibian filmmaker explores country’s historical legacy through film
Namibia’s film industry has breaking boundaries increasing its international reach as local filmmakers are getting noticed for their authentic storytelling and cultural depth. Red Carpet host Jackson Mvunganyi recently spoke with Namibian filmmaker Perivi Katjavivi about his cross-genre film, "Under the Hanging Tree" blending Herero mythology and the symbolism of the Omumborombonga tree in Namibian culture. Katjavivi shared that the film emerged from his desire to explore Namibia’s historical legacy, particularly its colonial past.
