Kenya Police Warn Against Planned Opposition Protest
Raila Odinga, the leader of the main opposition party, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya, has called for a new anti-government protest Friday. The demonstration coincides with the formation of Saba Saba, or the July 7th Movement, against one-party rule in Kenya 33 years ago. Odinga says Friday’s protest will be about government taxation without the consent of the people. The Nairobi police have warned against what they called an illegal gathering. Joseph Kioko, Kenyan political analyst, tells Daybreak Africa host James Butty, Odinga’s latest agitation cannot resolve the challenges facing the country.
