Amnesty International on Monday called the ruling by Britain’s High Court to back the U.K. government’s plan to send asylum-seekers to Rwanda “disappointing.” Steve Valdez Symonds of Amnesty International U.K. said the controversial plan should be opposed for a number of factors, including Rwanda's own history with respect to human rights. “The U.K. ought instead to simply be addressing the rights to asylum of people who have sought asylum on its, the U.K.’s territory, rather than seeking to expel people and wash its hands of its own responsibilities by passing them to Rwanda,” Symonds said.
