Lagos state police confirmed Tuesday to the BBC that 3-year-old Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of popular Afrobeats artist Davido, died from drowning. Eight domestic workers are being questioned regarding the incident.

The BBC reported that a police spokesperson confirmed the death. Davido and his fiancé, social media influencer and chef Chioma Rowland, have yet to make public comment about their son.

The child reportedly died after downing in a swimming pool at the family's Banana Island home in Lagos state.

Public relations officer for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said on Twitter it was “tough having to confirm certain incidents" and that his “heart goes out” to the musician and his fiancé.

Public figures, officials and supporters flocked to social media to offer their condolences to the family.

Davido is one of world's most recognized Afrobeats artists and has won numerous awards, gaining international attention for his hit records "If" and "Fall" in 2017.
