Looming famine threatens Sudan's Darfur communities

Some aid agencies say there are reports of famine in Sudan’s North Darfur area. Barrett Alexander, Mercy Corps Director of Programs for Sudan, who left Port Sudan and is in Nairobi, tells VOA’s Carol Van Dam that the report by the Famine Early Warning Systems Network highlights the dire situation for tens of thousands of Sudanese trapped by conflict between the Sudan Armed Forces and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces competing military factions.
