Amnesty urges release of Zimbabwe’s factional opposition leader

Amnesty International has called for the immediate release of the factional leader of Zimbabwe’s opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (or Tripple C). Jameson Temba and dozens of his supporters were arrested last week over an alleged unsanctioned meeting. Amnesty deputy regional director Khanyo Farise says the group is also demanding a probe into reports that the detainees were tortured while in custody. The government denies the charge.
