Liberia’s Former Speaker Loses Rerun Poll

Last October, the National Elections Commission of Liberia declared Anthony Williams winner over then speaker of the House of Representatives, Bhofal Chambers, in Pleebo Sodoken District #2. Chambers appealed to the Supreme Court citing several discrepancies. The court ordered the commission to rerun the election at two polling places in the district. Voting took place Thursday. Williams called VOA Thursday evening to say he had defeated the former speaker for the second time.
