Former South African President Zuma Not Voting for the ANC

Former South African President Jacob Zuma says he will not vote for the ruling African National Congress (ANC) in the 2024 general elections. According to Reuters, Zuma says he will be voting for a new party – Umkhonto we Sizwe, or Spear of the Nation. However, Zuma says he will remain a member of the ANC. Professor Sipho Seepe, a political analyst and former Deputy Vice Chancellor for Institutional Support at the University of Zululand, tells VOA’s James Butty, former President Zuma joins the rank of former ANC leaders who feel the party under President Cyril Ramaphosa has created a gap between it and the grassroots.
